City of Houston Extending Overflow Center Hours as Rain and Cold Temperatures Continue

January 10, 2025 – The City of Houston will provide a safe, warm space to ensure the safety of unhoused and vulnerable individuals as the area experiences rain and cold temperatures overnight.

The Fonde Recreation Center, located at 110 Sabine St., will continue to serve as an overflow center, offering additional space as nonprofit shelters reach or remain at capacity.

The city encourages individuals needing assistance or shelter to call 3-1-1 for details on transportation to the Fonde Recreation Center.

City officials urge anyone experiencing homelessness to seek shelter immediately and utilize these facilities.
The City of Houston’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates.
